Rich Signell is an oceanographer and sediment transport modeler at the USGS in Woods Hole, MA with a long-term interest in community data and tool sharing. (BS from University of Michigan, MS and PhD from MIT/WHOI Joint Program for Physical Oceanography). He is the modeling representative for the IOOS region in New England, a co-author of the Climate and Forecast Metadata Conventions for met/ocean data, and the Chair of the 2011 Gordon Research Conference on Coastal Ocean Modeling. He is currently on a one year detail to the NOAA IOOS Program Office in Silver Spring, MD to help deploy standards-based data servers for model output and tools that work with these servers.
