Project Description
A sensor that, installed at the bottom of the estuary, measures remotely the vertical structure of salinity in the overlying water column.

Fit in program
This sensor is designed to respond to a need for ubiquitous measurements of vertical structure of salinity in the Columbia River and other estuaries, both for process understanding and for model validation.

Outcomes
Prototypes of the sigma profiler have been built and tested in short field deployments.
