1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This document defines the Scope of Work/Work Plan for a program to provide the Bureau of Environmental Services with essential information about contaminated sediments in the Columbia Slough. The main purpose of this work is to assist city personnel in making the best possible decisions about the risks presented by slough sediments and the alternatives for restoring this ecosystem. This work supports the remedial investigations and feasibility studies (RI/FS) and risk assessments required by the Consent Order (DEQ No. ECSR-NWR-93-09, October 7, 1993). The end products of the project will be used in devising the safest and most cost-effective remedy for contamination in slough sediments.
