THE DISTRIBUTION AND TRANSFER OF CONTAMINANTS IN
COLUMBIA SLOUGH SEDIMENTS
Site-Focused Research In Support Of Contaminant Transport, Risk Assessment,
and Feasibility Studies for the Restoration of Columbia Slough

P.O. Box 91000, Portland, OR 97291-1000
OVERVIEW
The Center for Coastal and Land Margin Research (CCALMR) at the Oregon
Graduate Institute of Science & Technology proposes an
investigation to provide the Bureau of Environmental Services (BES)
with essential information about chemical processes that affect the
risks posed by contaminants in the sediments of the Columbia Slough.
The work products will help improve the quality of the water,
sediments, and habitats in the slough by allowing a more thorough and
efficient identification of risks to humans and the ecosystem. The
results of this project also will help BES make better and more
cost-effective decisions about clean-up strategies for contaminated
sediments.
