RALF: Annular Flume [OHSU] [OGI] [CCALMR] [RALF]
----------------
Flume concept and design

Concept: Access
In constructing RALF, we adopted a rotating elevated turntable design.  This gives us uninterrupted access to the annular channel without the need to stop rotation.  Consequently, we can collect grab samples, replace probes, or perform other "hands-on" activities while the flume is in operation.

Concept: Visualization
The annulus is constructed of acrylic (1" to 1-1/4" thickness) so as to provide visualization of processes occuring within the channel.

Concept: Probe Positioning
A variety of sampling port sizes (1/4", 1/2", and 2-3/4") are located around the annulus to allow for flexibility in probe design and location.  All ports are fitted with standard pipe thread.
